About
Muggleswick, a charming rural village situated a few miles west of Consett, lies in the heart of the countryside and enjoys the deeply impressive surroundings of Muggleswick Woods and Derwent Gorge. The village itself has a strong agricultural grounding and is also well-known for its historic All Saints church. Just a short distance from the church stand the remnants of The Manor House at Priory Farm, a Grade 1 listed site formely used by the Prior of Durham as a hunting lodge.
Derwent Gorge and Muggleswick Woods boast some of the finest, historic woodlands and semi-natural grasslands in North-East England. Can you spot the spotted flycatcher, or catch a glimpse of the Buzzards and Red Kites soaring above the Ancient Ash canopies?
