About
Relax & unwind in our original 1950’s railway wagons which have been fully-refurbished and transformed into unique self-contained accommodation, each with a wooden-decked patio area with stunning countryside views. Featured in the TV series “Robson Green’s Weekend Escapes” our wagons are well-equipped for a comfortable and relaxing stay in the picturesque Durham Dales. Our dog-friendly site features developing woodland and wetlands with an ever-increasing variety of wildlife, providing an idyllic setting for a relaxing break. Guests will also have access to our animal paddocks and aviary for the duration of their stay (subject to weather conditions and seasonal variations).

Our family-run business is located just off the A68 at Toft Hill, near Bishop Auckland in the beautiful Durham Dales. We are just a few miles from Hamsterley Forest with it's multitude of hiking and mountain-biking trails, Escomb Saxon church and Bishop Auckland which features the Bishop's Palace, Auckland Project, art galleries & mining galleries and the unmissable summer spectacular show "Kynren". Also within easy driving distance are Locomotion: National Railway Museum, historic Raby Castle, High Force & Low Force waterfalls, Weardale Railway and numerous picturesque dales villages with charming country pubs and the market town of Barnard Castle.
On-site we have our own Curlew Cafe & licensed bar (opening times subject to seasonal variations), which hosts seasonal events and regular fun events such as bingo, quizzes and music nights featuring local musicians. We also have the delightful animal paddocks (with llamas, alpacas, donkeys and much more) and an aviary, a childrens playground plus a dog walking area around our developing woodland and wildlife ponds.
