Spring Breaks
Spring is a wonderful time of year to visit Durham with nature bursting into new life.
From fun filled family days out, to cosy countryside escapes and luxury spa breaks, Durham is the perfect place to shake off those cobwebs and recharge your batteries on a UK short break this spring.
At this special time of year, the Durham Dales, North Pennines National Landscape, and Durham Heritage Coast explode with colour and wonderful wildlife, so you’ll never be short of stunning sights as you explore the great outdoors. The county’s picturesque parks and glorious gardens also make for memorable days out as you soak up the springtime sunshine.
Spring 2025 also brings with it an exciting line up of events and festivals, including the return of Fire And Ice Festival (28 Feb - 1 March) in Durham City, and Bishop Auckland Food Festival (12-13 April). Don't miss the S&DR200 Festival - a must visit for all railway lovers. Join us as we celebrate the 200th anniverdary of the Stockton and Darlington Railway from March to November.
Plus, many attractions which closed for winter begin to re-open with a wonderful line-up of activities and new exhibitions to enjoy. From Mother’s Day and Easter, there’s lots to celebrate this spring. Make the most of Durham this spring with delicious food and drink, amazing events, incredible days out, and well-deserved nights away. There’s something for everyone.
