Overview:

Mayfield cottage is in an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB), with dark sky’s and stunning views. Refurbished to an excellent standard with log burning stoves, enclosed pet friendly garden and off street parking. With free Wi-Fi, comfy beds and quality bedding, fluffy towels and a welcome pack for each guest, Mayfield cottage is a cosy retreat and ideal for walkers and cyclists and country lovers in general.

Location and Local Amenities:

The cottage is only 1mile from the village of St John’s Chapel with a pub serving food and a Co-Op. Stanhope is 8 miles away which has more shops and pubs including a butchers, bakers, tea rooms and takeaways. 

About Us:

As well as log burners, the property is central heated. Ideal for couples and families, the cottage sleeps four with one double and one twin bedroom and an upstairs WC. The main bathroom is situated on the ground floor with roll top bath and walk in shower and WC. There is a well equipped cooks  kitchen with double oven, dishwasher and washing machine. There is a separate dining area with great views of the hills. We are pet friendly (up to two well behaved dogs). Free Wifi (super fast broadband) available. Note we do not have a TV but you can stream via Internet to your own devices to watch a movie.

Local Things to See and Do

Close to Northumberland, Cumbria, Co Durham and the Lakes,  The North Pennines is perfect for cycling on the C2C cycle route. Also on the Weardale and Pennine way the cottage has stunning walking routes on the doorstep.

Mayfield Cottage is close to a number of attractions like Beamish Living History Museum, Raby Castle and High Force waterfall. Hadrian's Wall,  the Lake District and the Northumberland coast are little more than an hour's drive away.
