The Space
With beautiful interiors throughout, Thorne Cottage is a stunning property located in the heart of Stanhope. The cottage boasts a cosy open living room which is perfect for relaxing with your loved one. Mixing stylish furniture with traditional features, there are soft furnishings and low ceilings to create a really cosy and homely feel.
Featuring modern appliances, the kitchen is fully equipped so you have everything you could need to prepare home cooked meals easily.
Head to the bedroom and you’ll find a truly stunning space. With dark statement walls and plenty of storage space, there is a cosy and relaxing feel. You’ll enjoy your sleep in the comfy double bed as it boasts plush bedding and premium bed linens.
The bathroom has vintage style flooring and modern beige wall tiles. A large walk-in shower, vanity unit with a basin and WC complete the space.
Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during guest bookings. For this reason, we require all our guests to transfer a Damage Deposit (refundable, subject to an administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.

Stanhope is a picturesque haven for visitors seeking rest and relaxation amidst beautiful surroundings. The peaceful waters of the River Wear provide an idyllic backdrop for those who enjoy being outdoor and active too, with the ford at Stanhope a popular location where walkers can cross the river using giant stepping-stones.
Don't miss the opportunity to see the famous fossil tree, which is approximately 320 million years old, or visit the 12th Century church of St Thomas - a reminder of the area's Christian heritage where the Victorian font is made out of Frosterley marble.
Pop into the Durham Dales Centre for visitor information and grab a bite to eat in the delicious cafe.
Getting Around
The nearest mainline station to Stanhope is located in Bishop Auckland. From here, there are direct routes to Shildon, Newton Aycliffe, Darlington, Thornaby-on-Tees, Middlesbrough and Saltburn-by-the-Sea.
You can also hop on board the Weardale Railway at Stanhope station. This 18-mile heritage railway line takes you on a journey through stunning scenery and connects to nearby market towns including Wolsingham and Bishop Auckland.
A number of bus routes can be found running through Stanhope. Hop on the 101 to visit Bishop Auckland, or take a trip on the X46 to take in the sights of Durham.
The nearest airport is Newcastle International, 30 miles away from Stanhope.
