About
Seaham - the lively harbour town on Durham’s Heritage Coast. The town is home to one of the oldest churches in the country and an award-winning spa hotel, and boasts stunning cliff top views over its harbour and beaches.
The tranquil beauty of the sandy North Beach, with its inviting rock pools, is sheltered by a long sea wall which also protects the cliffs from the power of the North Sea.
The promenade, esplanade and Terrace Green provide wonderful locations for a gentle stroll or a longer walk along the coastal pathway.
One of the most outstanding features in Seaham is St. Mary the Virgin Church, recognised as one of the 20 oldest surviving churches in the whole country. Located to the north of the town this old Anglo Saxon church has roots thought to date back to the 7thC. Still regularly used for church services and much sought after for weddings, the church is a must for visitors to the town.
