Vote for Wendy!

Wendy is one of ten finalists in the prestigious national competition which celebrates the dedication and passion of the tourism industry’s employees and volunteers.

The public vote is now live and everyone is being urged to ‘Vote for Wendy’, who reached the final after being crowned Durham Tourism Superstar last year.

In her role as head of volunteer casting and engagement, Wendy looks after and organises hundreds of volunteers at Kynren, An Epic Tale of England – the live-action outdoor theatre spectacular which takes place every summer in the grounds of Auckland Palace, Bishop Auckland.

Wendy truly is a superstar and a fantastic representative of our region, as she is the only finalist from North East England. Wendy began her journey with Kynren as a volunteer in the show’s very first season, 10 years ago, and has recently become an employed team member to help drive forward the success of Kynren. Her experience as a volunteer is essential in her role, as it means she knows what volunteers need to make their journey as rewarding and meaningful as possible.

Wendy also attends many local events and national travel trade events across the country to reach new audiences, and spread awareness about Kynren and the wider county.
