Air
Durham has two airports nearby - Newcastle International Airport to the north and Teesside International Airport to the south. Both airports provide superb links from the rest of the UK, Europe and beyond.
The airports can be reached quickly and easily by public transport or car/taxi from Durham. Subject to the time of day, the average journey time can take only 30-45 minutes.
Durham from Newcastle International Airport using public transport
Once arriving at Newcastle International Airport, the Metro service will take visitors to Newcastle Central Station in 28 minutes, with services running every 12-15 minutes. Visitors can then continue their onward journey by rail or bus.
Durham from Teesside International Airport using public transport
Once arriving at Teesside International Airport, the number 12 bus service runs six times throughout the day and will take visitors through Darlington town centre at various times throughout the day. From Darlington Town centre visitors can choose to hop on the number 7 Sapphire bus route from Tubwell Row (stand H) to Durham City, with services running every 15 minutes. Or visitors can walk approx 10 minutes to Darlington train station, which has regular connections to Durham City.
