About
Join the Friends of the National Railway Museum for a talk about the origins of Locomotion museum.
This talk looks at some of the reasoning as to why the National Railway Museum choose Shildon to build its rolling stock storage facility.
But how did railway museums in this country become established? This question will be answered and more, like why a change in thinking allowed the facility built at Shildon to open as a museum.
Finally an insight is given into how the New Hall was built and filled, ready for when it opened in May 2024.
