Stone Carving Workshop - Durham Cathedral

Under expert tuition, try your hand at stone carving and learn more about this centuries old heritage skill.

You will spend a full day from 9am until 4pm working with our stonemasons who will guide you through how to carve either a St Cuthbert's cross or a leaf, teaching you the skills that have been used for over one thousand years at the cathedral.

The price includes a full day tuition as well as tea, coffee and biscuits served in Prior's Hall. No longer open to the public, Prior's Hall was originally part of the first Dormitory at the Cathedral it was later adapted to be a private space for the Prior of Durham to entertain his guests.
