Durham City

Have you got an eye for a great picture?

LateRooms.com is looking for your best snaps of Durham City as part of a national photography competition.

A recent survey from the UK's leading accommodation site found that most Britons had explored less than 2% of the UK. with the majority opting for trips to mainland Europe instead of discovering the UK delights right here.

Their research also said that fewer than half of the UK public have visited some of the nation’s top tourist hotspots - including Durham City, as well as destinations like Cambridge, Liverpool, Glasgow and Bath.

Those European city breaks have got a little more expensive recently (incase you hadn't noticed!) and LateRooms' new competition aims to encourage you to explore more of England's finest cities, including Durham City.

There's a £300 voucher to spend at LateRooms.com up for grabs, so why not give it a go?

How does Durham City compare to other European cities?

With a UNESCO World Heritage Site, historic architecture, characterful streets featuring boutiques, cosy pubs and cafes, and of course the amazing views that can be enjoyed from a riverside walk, our 'perfect little city' has been likened to Prague.

  • A panel of Instagram’s finest travel photographers will be helping select a winner
  • LateRooms will announce the winner just in time for Christmas – on Wednesday 21 December

Whether the image is a cityscape or hidden detail of an iconic building, black and white or colour, it simply needs to encapsulate Durham City in a single shot.

Whether you’re a novice or a pro, that makes no difference – as long as your image encapsulates what makes the city so special, you could be the winner.

For a little inspiration, take a look at our Durham City and Durham Cathedral Facebook albums, and here's a great shot from Sam Hudson, one of the special panel of Instagram’s finest travel photographers who will be judging the entries.
