You are here > Home > Things to Do > Easington - Connecting the Coast
Explore the Easington Local Nature Reserve, stopping to admire the memorial garden. In the summer listen for skylarks and look out for the Durham Argus Butterfly.
The walks can be combined to make longer walks and connect to the King Charles III England Coast Path. This path is being developed and will soon go all the way around the coast of England. The section in Durham is fully open and provides wonderful views of the cliffs, beaches and coastal wildlife. Look out for the heritage trail up to the pit cage and imagine when this nature reserve was a working colliery. The walks follow well-marked paths and are suitable for most people. The yellow route has stiles and crosses fields grazed by animals. The red route has steps and muddy sections. Take care on the coast, follow local signs and keep back from the cliff edge.
