Sit back, relax, and enjoy the view as you let someone else do the driving. Arriva and Go North East are the main public transport providers for Durham, providing a convenient and sustainable way to explore the county.
For just £6.60 per day, the Explorer Ticket is a great way of discovering the county, with the purchase of a single ticket providing travel throughout the region on local bus services.
Whilst the Durham Park and Ride service allows you to travel to the heart of historic Durham City with ease.
Durham City also has a bus which runs to and from the Cathedral. Please view the timetable and details below.
Durham Cathedral Bus - Number 40: Durham Railway Station timetable (Monday to Saturday).
Durham Cathedral Bus - Number 40A: Framwellgate Waterside timetable (Monday to Saturday)
- It does not run on Sundays, public holidays or on the Saturday of the Durham Miners' Gala in July.
- A Saturday timetable applies on weekdays between Christmas and New Year.
- A special timetable may apply on weekends when there is a festival or other major event taking place.
- Please note: The Sunday service does not operate during the winter months. The last day of the current Sunday service is Sunday 3 November 2024.
