AGLOW set to illuminate Auckland Castle this Christmas
18th May 2023
The Auckland Project has released tickets for a dazzling new light trail which will illuminate the skies of Bishop Auckland this Christmas from 22 November – 31 December.
AGLOW at Auckland Castle promises to be one of the most spectacular Christmas light trails in the North East, with seventeen incredible illuminations and some of the largest light installations in the country.
The 1.5 mile trail will take visitors on a mesmerising journey through Auckland Castle’s gardens and grounds, with surprises around every corner.
Highlights will include a Son et Lumière projection on Auckland Castle, the longest outdoor light tunnel in the country (measuring over 100m long) and the largest Christmas tree in the North of England (measuring over 30m tall).
Visitors will also have the opportunity to see Santa and his mischievous Elves in Santa’s village as they prepare for Christmas.
Immersive sound and light installations, including mirror balls, bubbles and musical trees, will bring the trail to life, with vintage fairground rides and traditional festive food to complete the experience.
Edward Perry, CEO at The Auckland Project, said: “We are thrilled to be bringing this exciting new light trail to Bishop Auckland this Christmas. We hope that families will travel from far and wide to enjoy this immersive festive experience in the grounds of Auckland Castle.”
AGLOW will run from 22 November – 31 December (closed Christmas Day) and visitors are being encouraged to beat the crowds by booking tickets in advance.
Tickets cost £14.50 for children (under 4s free), £21.50 for adults and £66.50, with a discounted Early Bird rate available until 31 July. Tickets can be booked for half hourly time slots from 4.30pm – 8.30pm.
